China opens new £thirteen.5bn mega-airport in Beijing that has ‘the sector’s largest terminal’, four runways and is designed to deal with 72million passengers every 12 months

Chinese president Xi Jinping has presided over the inauguration of a 2nd international airport for Beijing with a terminal billed as the world’s biggest.

Beijing Daxing global Airport, constructed in much less than 5 years for one hundred twenty billion yuan (£13.5 billion/$16.Eight billion), is designed to handle 72 million passengers a year.

The airline’s first commercial flight, a China Southern airlines plane bound for the southern province of Guangdong, took off on Wednesday afternoon, CCTV reported
